Afghan interim government cabinet list

BONN, Dec 5 (AFP) - Following is an approved but still incomplete list of members of an interim government that will lead Afghanistan for a six-month period.

The list below was given to AFP by the Northern Alliance. It is subject to confirmation by the United Nations, which sponsored the accord.

The UN said the list was yet to be fully finalised -- some names are missing -- because one group in the cabinet had yet to confirm its nominees will take part.

The list also specifies which camp the officials are from: the so-called Rome group of ex-king Mohammed Zahir Shah, the United Front (or Northern Alliance) and the so-called Peshawar group.

Of the 30 posts, 18 are from the Northern Alliance, 11 are from the Rome group, and one from the Peshawar group.

UN envoy Lakhdar Brahimi's criteria also stipulated that eleven are ethnic Pashtun, eight are ethnic Tajiks, five are ethnic Hazaras and three are ethnic Uzbeks. The remaining three come from smaller ethnic groups.
